CaMV-35S-driven expression of PsGA3ox1 in pea plants

Transgenic pea (Pisum sativum) lines with CaMV-35S-driven expression of PsGA3ox1 (LE) had altered phenotypes and increased gibberellin levels.Histological changes in tissues expressing PsGA3ox1 (LE) driven by the CaMV-35S constitutive promoter versus null control tissues, and expression patterns of the β-glucuronidase (GUS) marker gene driven by the CaMV-35S constitutive promoter, were examined.Consistently, we found that the transgenic lines had larger diameter xylem vessel elements in the stems suggesting that increased CaMV-35S-driven PsGA3ox1 expression is likely a primary factor in elevating GA1 concentration, resulting in the larger diameter xylem vessel elements.
