Recognizing the enviornmental cost in the current growth model, China has taken steps in reducing the economy's reliance on energy and natural resources.In addition to government measures on taxation and enivromental regulations, green finances could play an important role in promoting sustainable and envrionemntally-friendly growth in China going forward.Better enforcement by banks on the green credit guidelines, more diverse sources of financing, and further mobilization of private funding through public financial institutions and public-private partnership could expand the provision of green finances.At the same time, the transition to a more sustainable, greener growth in China would require a comprehensive approach comprising of reforms on fiscal and financial sectors, and state-owned enterprises, which would better rationalize the resources pricing and allocation.
