Streptococcus mutans (S.mutans) is a common conditioned pathogen in human oral cavity.It is able to attach to the tooth surface and form biofilm,becoming a primary pathogen responsible for dental cavities.Previous studies showed several surface proteins of S.mutanstake a part in biofilm formation[1].One of them,wall-associated protein A (wapA) was found toshorten the cell chains and impact biofihn formation under conditions without sucrose[2].We aimed at understanding the structure-function relationship of wapA.Live cell and super-resolution imaging revealed interestingsubcellular localization and dynamics of wapA,shedding light on its molecular mechanism in biofilm formation.
