We discuss the connection between the (2-)diagonal pattern and the 2-core of a given partition.Moreover, we construct a bijection between the "tail" of the diagonal pattern and partition into even parts using certain tiling of Young diagram.Then we use this bijection to establish two partition theorems, the first of which is a natural companion to Eulers classical result on partion with distinct parts and partition with odd parts.
