The planar laser-induced iodine fluorescence(PLIIF) technique has been developed at the University of Virginia for measurements in a variety of rarefied/continuum flowfields.The technique uses iodine,seeded into nitrogen flows,and excited by the 514.5 nm line of the argon laser.
