Myocarditis remains a poorly understood entity in cardiology and is the end result of both myocardial infection or autoimmunity that leads to acute inflammatory destruction of myocytes.It may present with variable clinical characteristics and outcome through different mechanisms.Currently no single clinical or imaging finding could be diagnostic of myocarditis.Rather an integrated approach including clinical presentations and non invasive testing are used to diagnose the disease and guide treatment.Novel imaging technique including cardiac magnetic resonance imaging is promising in helping clinicians to make proper diagnosis.While supportive treatment is the first line treatment, other forms of definitive treatment are controversial in treating patients with myocarditis.Immunological treatment including immunosuppressant, immunomodulating agents and immunoabsoptants have been used to treat the disease.The aim of the talk would be concentrating on the emerging trend of both diagnosis and treatment of myocarditis.
