Background Coronary spasm (CS) is one of the causes of angina, and frequently occurs in the presence of coronary lesions, but 1/3 of patients who develop coronary spasm are known to have no coronary lesions.CS commonly occurs in the right coronary artery, followed by the left anterior descending artery, but rarely occurs in the circumflex artery asconfirmed by coronary angiography.Coronary artery spasm can not only cause angina symptoms but also induce arrhythrnia, most commonly bradyarrhythmia.Non-dihydropyridine calcium antagonist has been in clinical use for the therapy of coronary artery spasm, but there is little experience about its application in the therapy of atrioventricular block caused by coronary spasm.This paper reports our experience of five cases that had atrioventricular block caused by coronary spasm which confirmed by coronary angiography, all of them treated with non-dihydropyridine calcium antagonist in our hospital in the past two years.To assess the efficacy and safety of non-dihydropyridine calcium antagonist in the treatment of patients with atrioventricular block caused by coronary spasm, in order to establish its clinical benefit.
