Background The replacement of damaged cells using in vitro differentiated functional cardiomyocytes from human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) has received much attention and holds great promises in cardiac regenerative medicine,iPSCs have been generated from multiple sources including skin (fibroblasts and keratinocytes),hair follicles,extraembryonic tissues or cord blood.However,there are a number of issues to be addressed in the research of optimal tissue sources for reprogramming.The issue we came across most commonly was a reluctance to undergo an invasive procedure for donating samples.Notably,urine production is an essential part of human physiology at any age,and for any sex or ethnic origin.
