Industrial application of supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) was increasing by day due to the excellent properties of supercritical fluids.However,the use of this technology to extract ingredients directly from plant materials,even though,offered best extraction rates and high quality products,was sometimes very expensive in terms of the quantity of samples to be used (requiring large extraction vessels),energy to be consumed,waste to be disposed off and several cleaning steps involved.This was manifested in the extraction ofpyrethrins from dry chrysanthemum with SFE technology by factories:SFE extraction of the dry pyrethrum following three organic solvent extractions.
