Objective:Mitochondrial damage and oxidative stress play critical roles in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy (DN),especially during renal tubular injury.Our previous study (JASN,2015) has demonstrated that excessive mitochondrial fragmentation and reduced mitophagy lead to ROS overproduction and apoptosis in diabetic tubular cells.
