Recent studies have revealed that liquid crystals can be used to direct micro-and nano-particles to form assemblies with symmetries that differ substantially from those encountered in isotropic solvent systems.Whereas these past studies have focused on the assembly of colloids in the bulk of liquid crystals,this presentation will report an exploratory investigation of directed assembly of colloids at liquid-liquid interfaces where one of the liquids defining the interface is a liquid crystal.
