This paper analyses air quality, change trend, main pollutants, the number of pollution days etc.in Beijing, shanghai and Guangzhou during 2001-2012, according to the air quality daily data in urban released by Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Peoples Republic of China.It shows that, the annual average of API during 2001-2012 in Beijing , Shanghai , Guangzhou is on the decline as the whole,Beijing is the most obvious decline among them, and all decreased slowly after 2008,the air quality is improved in total; the annual and seasonal average is decreased gradually from north to south ;API in cities which near the sea is lower ;API in three cities is higher in winter and spring, lower in summer; the number of days which achieved pollution level is a downward trend, Beijing is the largest, the air quality is:Guangzhou>Shanghai> Beijing.
