Background Resistant hypertension (HTN) is a serious global health issue.It has been estimated that it may affect 20％to 30％ of the HTN population.Only about 30％ of these patients are actually adequately controlled according to the target BP.A critical factor in resistant HTN is the hyperactivity of the sympathetic nervous system.Recent research could show that catheter-based renal sympathetic denervation is effective in BP lowering in patients with resistant hypertension.
