  Objective The genome holds extraordinary information.However,only 1.5%or less of mammalian genomes consist of protein-coding sequence.The rest of the genome,consisting of noncoding sequences,was once considered as “junk DNA”,but is now appreciated to harbor large numbers of functional genomic elements that remain to be extensively explored.
