Beryllium(Be)is one of candidate materials for neutron multipliers for fusion reactors.However,some problems have been anticipated such as hydrogen generation reaction with vapor and volumetric swelling at high temperatures.Therefore,advanced neutron multipliers with high stability at high temperatures are desirable for DEMO reactors.Beryllides such as Be12Ti and Be12V are the most promising materials for this purpose.Beryllides R&D has been started as a part of the Broader Approach activities.
