Objectivez This review discusses recent insights into the role, mechanism, clinical applications, differences and the fundamental interactions of G-CSF and AMD3100 instem cell mobilisation and chemotherapy for hematologic malignancies.Methods Literature review.Results G-CSF has been extensively used as a peripheral blood stem cell mobiliser.Recent studies have indicated that G-CSF can inhibit macrophages and stimulate the innervating sympathetic neurons in the bone marrow to adjust HSC mobilisation.AMD3100 can also facilitate haematopoietic stem cell mobilisation.The combination of G-CSF and AMD3100 may be superior to G-CSF alone.G-CSF and AMD3100 mobilise different human CD34 HSPCs subsets that might play key roles in stem cell implantation and immune system reconstitution.G-CSF can also be used to promote G0-phase leukaemia stem cells to enter the cell cycle and to sensitise these cells to chemotherapeutic agents which is called priming.Increasingly, studies are evaluating AMD3100 as an adjunct to chemotherapy for malignant haematological tumours.
