The Arabidopsis surface-localized immune receptor FLS2 detects the bacterial flagellar peptide fig22 to initiate defenses through a poorly understood signal transduction pathway.Here we show that Arabidopsis BIK1, a receptor-like cytoplasmic kinase, is required for FLS2-mediated signaling and disease resistance to Pseudomonas syringae bacteria.
