The effects of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) using Ar and Ar/acrylic acid on the PTFE film surface modification are studied. The surface properties are characterized by contact angle measurement, ATR-FTIR, xray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).It is found that the DBD treatments with Ar and Ar/acrylic acid modify the PTFE surface in both morphology and composition.DBD treatments with Ar/acrylic acid is more effective in PTFE surface modification than in Ar as it can formation a hydrophilic PAA film into the surface and make the contact angle decline to 240.In addition, reactive gaseous species are detected by optical emission spectroscopy to reveal the possible process of the increasing wetting properties of PTFE film.
