Epigenetics refers to the study of the DNA sequence independent signals and mechanisms for the transmission of the transcription memory through cell division, the fundamental process of development of high eukaryotes. The epigenetic makeup is a sum of the functional and organized information of genome, primarily shaping the pattern of the genome transcription and therefore phenotype. It sits between the genotype and phenotype, having stronger phenotypic impact than the genotype. It interfaces the genotype and environment, responsible for the altered genomic transcription status (then phenotype) in response to the changes in its surrounding. Thanks to the next-generation centered omic platform technologies, the dynamic epigenomic changes can be analyzed in a great precision.
