It is a challenge to remove low concentration formic acid from wastewater.Among the various treatment technologies,adsorption is one of the most efficient methods,and it was widely used for treatment of industrial wastewater.The advantages of the adsorption process are its simplicity in operation and inexpensiveness compared to other separation methods [1].Weakly basic ion exchange resin D301 was selected and used to separate low-concentration formic acid in this work.Adsorption of formic acid was studied under different temperatures and initial concentrations.Adsorption of formic acid was investigated in terms of equilibrium adsorption and adsorption kinetics.The kinetic results showed that Langmuir isotherm fit well with the experimental data when the resin applied was 2.5g.L-1; Pseudo-second-order model and intraparticle diffusion model can describe well the exchange process of formic acid of ion exchange resin D301.Effect of temperatures and concentrations of formic acid on the exchange capacity were investigated.Kinetic equation data showed that reaction order was 0.378 and apparent activation energy is 5.983kJ·mol1.Apparent kinetic equation for the exchange process has been determined.
