Iron ore agglomeration is an important step in iron & steel making process.As production scale enlarges and market competition increases,stabilizing or optimizing the sintering & pelletizing induration is a key approach to enhance production criteria and reduce energy consumption.Artificial intelligence and mathematical model are promising tools to deal with these complicated control problems,and recently,techniques such as fuzzy control,expert system,process model visualization have been applied in level-2 control of agglomeration process more and more widely.Based on the thorough understanding of the process and the above advanced control techniques,this paper mainly details two intelligent control systems for iron ore agglomeration developed by the authors,one is for typical sintering process and the other is for typical grate-kiln process.The systems adopt fuzzy control & fuzzy model,expert system and mathematical simulation.The corresponding control strategies for sintering process and grate-kiln process are firstly introduced,and then the developed systems are briefly described,system application and the running performance are finally highlighted.These two intelligent control systems can bring significant economic benefits,the promotion or further application will enhance the competitiveness of domestic iron & steel industry.
