  The design of shell-like(nacre)structures has led to the strengthening and toughening of ceramics.Hybrid organic and inorganic materials have been extensively used for configuring layered composites.However,the high-temperature application is not applicable for these composites.In the present study,we applied a strong magnetic field to align nanolayered MAX phase(Nb4AlC3,Ti3Si(Al)C2 and Ti2AlN)particles in an aqueous suspension and then densified the dried green body by sintering(spark plasma sintering or pressureless sintering).
