Objective: To observe the effects of NGF with Scaffold materials on promoting new bone formation in repairing mandible defects on artificial bone defect.Methods: 15mm×8mm artificial mandible bone defects were made surgically in 18 adult New Zealand rabbits which were randomly divided into NGF group (experimental group), control group and normal group.NGF group was implanted nerve growth factor to bone defect area by using the gelatin sponge and Scaffold materials, Control group was implanted gelatin sponge and Scaffold materials without NGF, while Normal group was implanted nothing but artificial mandible bone defects.For result observation is reconstruction of the mandible in different stage after the operation.In 2, 4and 8 weeks after implantation the new bone formation was investigated by gross examination, X-ray diagnosis, and micro CT and histomorphometric analyses.
