We report the fabrication of a novel high nonlinear Ge-Sb-Se chalcogenide glass (ChG) fiber with high numerical aperture, which the core and the cladding glasses based on compositions of Ge15Sb25Se60 and Ge15Sb20Se65 (mol %), respectively. We also measured their thermal properties, including expansion coefficient, crystallization characteristic and three order nonlinearity properties etc.[1].The result of Closed-aperture (CA) Z scans test shows that the nonlinear refractive index (n2) of the core glass is 19x 10-18 m2/w at 1.55 μtm, about 2 times higher than that of As2Se3 glass. On this basis, a step-index ChG fiber with a core diameter of 63 μm and cladding diameter of 507 μm was fabricated through the rod-in-tube drawing technique and the lowest loss of fiber at the 6 μm is ~5 dB/m[2].When pumping a 20-cm-long fiber with 100 fs short pulses at 7.0 μm, a 20 dB spectral of the generated supercontinuum spans from 3 μm to longer than 9.8 μm.
