Borondipyrrolmethene(known as BODIPY)dyes represent a new class of highly fascinating molecules owing to their ease of synthesis and remarkable physical properties such as relatively high fluorescence quantum yields and excellent photophysical stability in the dilute solution.1 However,the self-absorption resulting from very narrow Stokes shifts of most of the BODIPY dyes often make them emit weakly or even barely in their aggregate states.
