We have compared two newly discovered novel mosquitocidal Bacillus sp.isolates – VB17 and VB24 with Bacillus thuringiensis subsp.israelensis (Bti) and Bacillus sphaericus (Bs) for their efficacy against two mosquito species,Culex quinquefasciatus and Aedes taeniorhynchus and impact on mosquitofish Gambusia holbrooki Girard in the laboratory.We found that two isolates were effective against the third instar of mosquito larvae and the efficacy are comparable to BS,but less than BTi.Data from fish bioassay indicated that two new bacterial species were,similar to BTi and Bs,not affect mosquitofish survival.
