The oxygen-insertion into organic molecules represents a key chemical transformation with wide-ranging significance both for chemical industry and for lab synthesis.Here,we report a novel oxygen-insertion reaction that transforms tanshinones into their anhydride-type products under reductive catalytic hydrogenation condition.
