Aim: Polyporus umbellatus (Pers) Fries (Polyporaceae), a widely used traditional Chinese medicine, was known as Zhu Ling, Grifola umbellata and Dendropolyporus umbellatus.It was taken to treat the edema, scanty urine, vaginal discharge, urinary dysfunction, as well as jaundice and diarrhea.The aim of this review is to provide comprehensive information on the traditional uses, propagation, phytochemistry, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and quality control of P umbellatus to explore their therapeutic potential and future research opportunities.
