Portland cement is obtained by a conventional synthesis process, from a mixture of limestone and clay to a high temperature (1450 ℃), where a partial melting and formation of nodules of clinker are produced, which is mixed with a small percentage of gypsum and grind together until finally make cement. Some researches report the possibility to obtain silicates and aluminates of cement by altemative methods of synthesis, which optimize the time and the temperature, such as the Pechini method, the Sol-Gel method and microwave synthesis.
