This study focus on the difference pullout resistance and stiffness between wood-dowel welding and hammering.Test results showed that pullout resistance of welded joints were much higher than that of hammered joints.The typical pullout resistance curve of wood-dowel welding is composed of three stages:the elastic stage, the yield stage and the extending stage.While the typical curve of hammered specimen presents different characters: the slow-rising stage, the sawtooth waveform stage and the failure stage.Test results also indicated that Larch specimens showed higher pullout resistance than the Spruce specimens.Moreover, Larch specimens with the holes/dowels diameters of 9.5mm/12mm and Spruce specimens with 8.5mm/12rnm showed their highest pullout resistance and stiffness, respectively.
