Surface plasmon,as we know,is the coherent oscillation of electrons excited by light at appropriate wavelength, resulting in very strong electro-magnetic field around.Plasmonic nanoparticles(e.g.noble metal nanoparticles such as gold and silver)have been considered as one of the most efficient light trapping platforms to boost the performance of light-harvesting systems in that the nanoparticles can be employed to couple and trap freely propagating plane waves into an semiconductor.[1] On this account, surface plasmon technique has been widely applied in many fields such as solar cells, light emitting diode, photocatlysts, and photodetectors. In this presentation,I will introduce our recent progress on the application of surface plasmon in nano-optoelectronic devices, with attention paid to the one-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures based plasmonic photodetectors.[2,3,4,5].
