Rickettsia monacensis was firstly isolated and characterized from Ixodes ricinus form Munich,Germany in 2002,and later confirmed as human pathogens of Mediterrenean spotted fever(MSF)-like disease.Currently,the pathogen has been reported in Spain,Italy,Hungary,Poland,Japan and China mainland and its potential risk to public health was concentrated by epidemiologists and clinical physicians.
