Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is one of the most important crops in the world. The yield potential of rice is closely related to panicle traits, which include panicle length, number of primary and secondary branches, spikelets per panicle. Our studies showed that overexpression of a rice AP2/EREBP family member, Rice Starch Regulator1 (RSR1), resulted in a significant increase in yields, which is mainly due to the improved panicle traits.A global transcriptome analysis during the inflorescence development identified approximately 3380 down-regulated and 1200 up-regulated genes under RSR1 overexpression.
