Surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS)allows us to identify single or few molecules located at a "hot spot" very efficiently via their vibrational spectra.An ideal SERS-active substrate for sensing and imaging applications should possess a high signal enhancement,a reproducible and uniform response and an easy fabrication method.Here,we propose a universal scheme to extremely enhance the Raman signal of the planar SERS substrate through introducing a dielectric grating to the quasi-randomly arranged gold nanoparticles film.
