Multidisciplinary Design Optimization(MDO) is the design methodology which considers integrated the interaction among several disciplines consisting of the complex engineering system.Previous research on MDO chiefly includes the method to conduct concurrently the efficient decomposition of the entire system design problems and the decomposed problems in the distributed environment or the method to synthesize effectively the decomposed problems in consideration of coupling among the disciplines.In MDO, it is important to solve coupling among disciplines, and coupling has two kinds: one is coupling in analysis in which an analysis result of a discipline is input into an analysis of another discipline, and the other is coupling in design in which several disciplines share the conditions of design.Coupling in analysis and coupling in design can be solved easily if coupling in analysis derived coupled equations among disciplines and coupling in design transforms multidisciplinary design optimization formulation according to the correlation between design variables and coupled variables.
