  As chromatography is evolving towards two-dimensional separations, the way in which we measure resolution has to be reconsidered (if not redefined).The situation encountered in comprehensive two-dimensional chromatography is quite different from that in common one-dimensional chromatography.First of all, in one-dimensional chromatography a peak is bracketed by just two peaks, whereas in a two-dimensional chromatogram (chromatogram) a peak can be surrounded by many immediate neighbours.
