Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are chemical substances that persist in the environment, bio-accumulate, and face a risk to cause adverse effects to human health.Environmental monitoring and risk assessment about POPs are very important to protect the safety of ecosystem and human health.Facing great challenges about the pollution of POPs, the Stockholm Convention was adopted and opened for Signature in 2001, which is a global treaty to protect human health and the environment from POPs.China is one of the first proponents of the Convention.
