Graphene, with 2D structure of single-atom-thick sheet of packed carbon (sp2 hybridized) atoms, possesses numerous fascinating properties such as large surface area, high mechanical strength, unique photothermal property, ease of chemical modification offering great promise for sample preparation in analytical chemistry.The realization of this opportunity demands chemical modification to furnish graphene with desirable functionality tailored for targeted analytes.
