Non-optical microelectronics-based biosensors in μTAS are gaining increasing attraction as they offer a number of advantages such as small size, fast in use, simplicity in operation, and eventually low cost.Magnetic biosensing is a suitable candidate for highly sensitive bio-sensing.In this approach, the classical optical reporters (e.g.fluorescent label) are replaced by superparamagnetic particles, which can be detected by micro magnetic sensors, e.g.magneto-resistive sensors. The pioneering work in the field of magneto-resistive biosensors was performed by the Naval Research Laboratory [1], followed by other research groups [2, 3].We report the development of magneto-resistive spin valve immunosensors by combining detection and manipulation of magnetic particles.
