Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of nursingintervention in ameliorating malnutrition for head and neck cancer patients receiving radiotherapy. Methods: A total of 58 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma were included in this study. From the first week before treatment until the end of therapy, the nutritional status of each patient was evaluated by Subjective Gross Nutrition Assessment (SGA).The following parameters were investigated: body weight, nutrient intake, symptoms related to nutrition, function, and physical examination.Grade A was defined as excellent nutrition, grade B as medium or suspicious malnutrition, and grade C as severe malnutrition.Based on the SGA grade, corresponding nutrition intervention approaches, including education for patients and their relatives, were carried out.The treatment regimen and nutrition plans were outlined, with therapies and gross nursing delivered by primary physicians and nurses, according to the subjective assessment of four questionnaires on body weight, nutrient intake, symptoms, and activity, as well as function by patients and their relatives, and objective assessment or analysis by primary nurses.
