The Tibetan minipigs (TB) and Bama miniature pigs (BM) are 2 popular pig breeds as experimental animals in China. The smaller body size of these 2 pig breeds is their obviously characteristics. The 3 gene fragments of GH, GHR, and IGF-1,which are closely related to growth traits, have been selected to analyze these 2 pig breeds and one control pig breed, Large white pig (LW) by single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP).Based on the data coming from 100 BM, 108 TB and 50 LW, we found that the polymorphic distribution levels of GH, GHR, and IGF-1 genes are significantly difference among 3 pig breeds.According to the correlation analysis between SNPs and five growth traits of body weight (BW) , body length (BL) , withers height (WH) , chest circumference (CC) , and abdomen circumference (AC) , 3 SNP loci in BM and 4 SNP loci in TB are significantly affected on all or partial growth traits.3 SNP sites in BM and 4 SNP sites in TB significantly affect on all or partial growth traits. The SNPs at GH gene fragment were significantly affected on the BL, CC at locus 12 and BL at locus 45 in BM and the BW, WH, CC, AC at locus 45 and WH, CC at locus 93 in TB.The one SNP at locus 85 in BM GHR gene fragment was affected on all characteristics of traits significantly. All indexes were reduced significantly with the mixture of alleles in this locus. The growth indexes were significantly reduced with the mixture of alleles in these loci. This result not only provides more information for the genetic background of these minipig species, but also have the potential to be used as selection markers for pig breed programs.
