The organic-inorganic hybrid coatings have drawn many interests in the past several years and exhibited great potential in various applications.Due to the high specific surface area of nanoparticles, nanoparticle-matrix interface is one of the major concerns in nanocomposites and coatings.In the present study a couple of pyrogenic silica nanoparticles, i.e.AEROSIL R7200 and R9200 supplied by Evonik Degussa, treated with different surface modifiers, i.e.γ-(methacryloxy) propyltrimethoxy and dimethyldichloride silanes, were dispersed mechanically into urethane-acrylate matrix.The mixtures with various amounts of nano-fillers were spin-coated onto polycarbonate substrates and then cured by UV light.
