Since its inception early in 1990s,functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has become one of the most dominant neuroimaging tools.High-field fMRI,with its improved signal-to-noise ratio and spatial specificity,has strengthened the capability of fMRI and allowed for studying human brain functions at the columnar (sub-millimeter) spatial resolution.In this presentation,I will introduce several practical techniques developed using high-field MRI systems for revealing functional architectures in humans,including ocular dominance columns in primary visual cortex (V1),temporal frequency dependent domains in V1,and direction selective columns in middle temporal complex.
