The urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) and its receptor (uPAR) are expressed by some human cancer cells.The important biological role of uPAR in the signaling network that drives epithelial cell proliferation and transformation, together with and its overexpression in human tumors led to considering uPAR as novel target for tumor-specific therapies.The aim of this study was to investigate if uPA/uPAR could be targeted by the plasminogen activator inhibitor type 2 (PAI2) in human hepatic cancer cells.We have labeled PAI2 with 131I to form the radio-conjugate (RC), and studied its in vitro cytotoxicity.Human hepatic cancer cell line (HepG2)and breast cancer cell line (MCF-7) were used in this study.
