Objective To evaluate the efficacy of dexmedetomidine application during carotid angioplasty and stenting. Methods Forty patients scheduled for carotid angioplasty and stenting were randomly into group dexedetomidine(group D) and midazolam plus sufentanyl group(group C).MAP、 HR、 RR、 SpO2 and Ramsay score were recorded before administration(T0) and、 5 min (T 1)、 10 min (T2)、 15 min (T3)、 30 min (T4) and the end of operation(T5) after sedative administration.ResultsCampared with the baseline, MAP and HR decreased at T3-T5 and Ramsay scores increased at T3-T4 in group D.MAP decreased at T3 and Ramsay scores increased at T3-T4 in group C.Compared with group C, MAP and HR decreased at T4-T5 and Ramsay scores increased at T4 in group D.No differences between groups were noted for postoperative nausea and vomiting and Ramsay score. Conclusions Dexmedetomidine is an ideal sedative drugs can be safely used in carotid angioplasty and stenting surgery sedation.
