　　We reported the detection of a fibroblast factor that inhibits induced COX-2 expression.This soluble factor was named cytoguardin.As cancer cells did not release detectable cytoguardin, we used comparative metabolomics to determine the chemical identity ofcytoguardin.Based on the differential metabolomic profile, we deduced that cytoguardin belongs to tryptophan metabolites.One of the metabolites proved to be 5-methoxytryptophan (5-MTP).
