The elaborate architecture of the neocortex requires exquisite regulation of the diverse processes of neurogenesis, neural migration, and neural differentiation.Regionally restricted neural stem cells (NSCs)help specify the diversity of neuronal progenies during cortical development.However, the mechanisms underlying spatial specification of NSCs lineages in embryonic proliferative zones are still largely unknown.Here, we report that the LSD1/KDM1A associated corepressor, RE1-silencing transcription factor (REST)corepressor 2 (Rcor2) , is a key regulator of dorsal NSC specification and differentiation during cortical development.
