A significant amount of drug candidates fail due to adverse safety issues,which has led to extensive efforts to implement and improve strategies for early in vitro toxicity profiling and explore relevant compound design principles.Recent chemico-biological strategies include develop novel in vitro assays that can predict in vivo toxicity or specific organ toxicity more accurately as well as fine-tuning physicochemical properties to reduce probabilities of drug safety-related attrition.
