Dams and reservoirs interrupt river channel connectivity and change natural river flow conditions, severely threatening migratory fish survival and fishery economy development in the world.Existing research made great efforts to help fish passing through dams by designing fishways or similar structures. However, even if fish can pass through dams, complicated hydrodynamic conditions in large reservoirs are still big threats to the success offish migration. This study will propose a design plan of barge transportation to help migratory fish coping with the threats from large reservoirs.Barge transportation was originally proposed for helping fish to pass through large dams.
