Codon usage bias(CUB),a phenomenon that synonymous codons are used at different frequency,is believed to be a complex interplay between mutation and selection. The positive correlation between CUB and gene expression level is indicative of translational selection as biased codon usage arises considerably from selection for translation efficiency and/or accuracy.Genes possess different evolutionary age and accordingly endure diverse natural selection, however, whether translational selection acts differentially on human genes with different ages remains unknown.
